New book by Harry Eyres
The poems in Dear Departed oscillate between present and past, the living and the dead, Mediterranean idylls and southern English land- and cityscapes. Harry Eyres offers elegies here for departed parents and friends, and engagement with a lived reality that balances life and loss.
Harry Eyres writes about wine and has been a theatre critic, the editor of a daily newspaper poetry feature, and the long-running ‘Slow Lane’ columnist in the Financial Times. His previous books include Hotel Eliseo (poems, also from Hearing Eye), Horace and Me: Life Lessons from an Ancient Poet (Bloomsbury), Plato’s The Republic: A Beginner’s Guide (Hodder & Stoughton), Seeing Our Planet Whole: A Cultural and Ethical View of Earth Observation (Springer)
