Peter Campbell was born and raised in the Scottish Highlands. He now lives in North West London. He is a founder member of Survivors’ Poetry . In 2006 Melvyn Bragg presented Peter Campbell with the MIND Diamond Champion Award for the person who has done most for users of mental health services in England and Wales in the previous 20 years.

In 2010 he was made Honorary Doctor of Education at Anglia Ruskin University for his sheer strength of character and outstanding talent as a writer, performer and educationalist.
